Larry Achtemichuk, with a career background in Information Technology, has been an SVP Partner for five years. He’s had three Lead Partner gigs and is currently co-Lead Partner of NICCSS (Network of Inner City Community Services Society). He continues as a member of the Opportunities Committee and the IT Community of Practice.
“I was drawn to work with NICCSS because they base their approaches on genuine collaboration with other charities and agencies,” says Larry, “and on taking input on how to create and evolve their programs from on-the-ground staff and clients.”
NICCSS was awarded SVP Vancouver’s first Innovation Grant to create a unique Social Credits system, involving a number of players, using micro-loans and social development to transition aging out youth.
This collaborative and innovative approach has fostered Larry’s strong interest in NICCSS.
Now, let’s see if you were right about those three things about Larry:
- Larry is an artist and has donated pieces on display at the Lions Gate and VGH-UBC Hospitals
- Larry cycled across Tibet in his younger days – totally not true. His son did – Larry was just trying to tap into the interests of the many cyclists in SVP!!
- He once sang a love song with Marie Osmond for some 400 work colleagues and their spouses
