A writer, editor, and graphic designer, Trista Baldwin is a self-described “one-woman publishing machine.” As Communications Manager, she dons the hat of storyteller, chronicling the unique journeys, steadfast commitment, and shared successes of SVP’s Partners and Investees.
Responsible for communications and brand management, she will work to build a broader awareness and understanding of SVP’s community impact.
When you were a kid, what did you dream of being when you grew up?
When I was 8, a firefighter like my aunt! I’m pretty sure my interests ran the gamut from astronaut to marine biologist to prime minister, but always in the background was the desire to be an author. Eventually that expanded into a broader desire to (over the course of my lifetime) be an author, educator, activist, philanthropist, and publisher, which ultimately led to my pursuing communications.
What inspires you to make a difference in the world?
The evolution of ideas, values, technology—society itself—is iterative, and I feel we all have a responsibility to leave the world a little better off than when we came into it. As a woman and as someone who has had the privilege to live and travel abroad, I am keenly aware that I stand on the shoulders of those who’ve come before me and am constantly inspired by the people all over the world who take up that mantle.
What is one thing nobody would ever guess about you?
I still have my “N” license—but I’m taking my test in summer 2019. Cross your fingers folks!
Tell us two truths and one lie.
- I took up the violin when I was 33.
- I have an identical twin sister.
- I teach people how to perform headstands.
The lie …
I DO have a twin sister but we’re fraternal, not identical. AKA, we don’t look alike. You wouldn’t believe how many people need that clarification.
