Meet one of SVP’s newest Young Partners, Lauren Minogue, Wealth Manager & Investment Counsellor at CC&L Private Capital (CC&L).
Since joining SVP in November 2018, Lauren has wasted no time getting involved in all kinds of SVP activities. She is a member of the Development Committee, volunteers her time on discovery teams (Partners who research and visit potential Investees), and has taken advantage of SVP networking opportunities.
We recently caught up with Lauren to learn more about her and discover what drew her to SVP Vancouver.
“I graduated with an undergraduate degree in Commerce from the University of Victoria and recently finished the Chartered Financial Analyst Level Three exam,” says Lauren. “ In my practice at CC&L, I help educate and advise clients on decisions surrounding their money and investment goals.”
We love learning how people find out about the decide to join SVP Vancouver. Lauren had been looking to get more involved philanthropically when—serendipitously—one of her peers introduced her to SVP.
“I was not aware of SVP at the time,” says Lauren, “but was intrigued after learning about the venture philanthropy model, the focus on helping children and youth in our communities, and the opportunity to work with numerous non-profits during critical times of growth.”
Lauren enjoys investing in worthwhile causes and also currently volunteers with Ocean Wise and the Vancouver Aquarium. Other interests include travelling and languages.
“I’m a linguaphile,” says Lauren. “I love languages and am fluent in French. I’ve been working to improve my Spanish after I was inspired during a recent trip to Colombia.”
To wrap things up, we asked Lauren to give some advice to other young professionals interested in philanthropy.
“Just get out there and try it,” asserts Lauren. “I think a lot of young professionals worry that they haven’t built up the expertise yet to contribute in a meaningful way. But we bring unique and valuable perspectives to the table that are appreciated.”
There are many opportunities to become engaged as a Partner. In addition to the ones Lauren has taken advantage of, Partners can observe introduction meetings, attend Investee brainstorming sessions, participate in education events, join a Community of Practice, volunteer directly with an Investee organization, and more. Please contact Douglas for details on how to get involved.
