New Investee announcement
Lead Partners Barb Berg, David Ferguson, and John Murphy are happy to welcome SVP’s newest Investee, Down Syndrome Research Foundation (DSRF). This long-standing organization empowers children and youth with Down syndrome to reach their full potential through a wide-range of educational programs.
“DSRF fulfills an important role for families who would have very few resources otherwise available and assists them throughout their child’s life,” says co-Lead Partner John Murphy. “They provide learning opportunities and support for individuals with Down syndrome so they can grow and learn to live independently in adulthood, with the hope for marriage, friends, and employment,” adds co-Lead Partner Barb Berg.
“They’re at an exciting inflection point,” says co-Lead Partner David Ferguson. “They have new high energy leadership, are expanding their fundraising capabilities and focus, and are committed to finding innovative new ways of delivering their programs. I think SVP is perfectly suited to provide leverage and impact as they enter this new stage.”
SVP will support DSRF with a grant commitment of $75,000 in 2019. In addition, DSRF is seeking non-financial support from SVP Partners in the areas of fund development, communications, finance, human resources, and IT.
“Being an SVP Investee is an amazing opportunity that allows us to achieve the important strategic goal of splitting our dual development and communications position much sooner than anticipated,” says DSRF CEO Wayne Leslie. “We also hope to increase the number of students and families we serve, improve affordability, and enhance our facility. We know our work with SVP is going to be hugely beneficial in many ways.”
Partners: If you are interested in working with this Investee who is committed and eager to make use of all that SVP has to offer, please contact Gina to be informed about DSRF’s upcoming brainstorming session.
