The Inner Workings of a Nonprofit Organization – Course Curriculum

While there are many similarities between nonprofit and for-profit organizations, there are significant differences as well. It’s important that strategic volunteers understanding these financial, cultural and organizational differences. In this course, participants will get an insider’s look at the decisions facing nonprofit boards of directors and executive leadership. Interactive scenarios will guide them through a hiring process and budget planning to develop greater understanding of the unique characteristics and challenges of nonprofit organizations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Compare/contrast characteristics of nonprofit and for-profit organizations
  2. Identify the key success factors of highly effective nonprofits
  3. Describe various funding methods available to nonprofits
  4. Explain the core functions of a nonprofit board of directors
  5. Empathize with the trade-offs that nonprofit leaders are often faced with.
