Our investee Washington Building Leaders of Change (WA-BLOC) is currently seeking volunteers for their after school Homework Center at Rainier Beach High School. Homework Center is a drop in, academic support for Rainier Beach students 9th-12th grade that operates 3:45-5:30pm Monday-Thursdays (2:30-4:30 Weds).
Tutors support students with homework completion, study skills, college and scholarship applications, and job applications. The hope is that mentors can commit to 1 day/wk for at least a three month commitment.
WA-BLOC is also recruiting folks to lead one 90 minute workshop for Rainier Beach High School students, and they will consider a broad range of topics that center social justice in some fashion. If you are interested in potentially facilitating a dynamic workshop for students, please complete this brief form and WA-BLOC will be in touch!
This is a great opportunity for you to get plugged into the work of WA-BLOC and make a difference in the Rainier Beach community! Tutors will also receive ongoing training and support from WA-BLOC.
