Five Years. Five Minutes. Five Showdowns.
Five years ago, SVP Fast Pitch Seattle had it’s first Final Showdown. So began a journey that continues and grows in influence year after year; and like the Hora, a Greek dance, that snakes its way through a community collecting more and more “dancers”, so does Fast Pitch. With each progressive year, we see growth as well as continuity–in the form of innovators who apply, coaches who coach, mentors who mentor, celebrity judges who judge, sponsors who support the event, and volunteers and attendees who come for an evening of celebrating social innovation born in their backyard.
And, like the myriad of styles and interpretations of Greek dance, SVP Fast Pitch Seattle is unique in that there are innovator tracks for For Profits, Not For Profits that are new, and Established Not For Profits with new programs to promote, and student tracks for the High Schoolers and the Collegiates.
Our multi-track approach is what makes SVP Fast Pitch Seattle extra special.
Tonight, we honor the creators of products and services that serve the Greater Puget Sound and beyond.
Tonight, our Finalists take the stage to deliver in five short minutes a pitch that could earn them monetary awards and (much deserved) exposure to the right people. It’s a journey that started five months ago for each Innovator who walks on stage tonight. We know they are nervous, excited, and we also know they have been well prepared.
Last night when online ticket sales closed nearly 600 tickets had been secured. And, we’ve seen hundreds opt to walk in to attend the Final Showdown that has taken over the magnificent McCaw Hall for the past three years. (Is that a Pacific Northwest thing? :))
Program Lead, Maureen O’Hara had this to say the morning of tonight’s Final Showdown:
“With your time and efforts tonight we can boast the highest ticket sales, the highest grant pool, the most valued prizes, and the largest investment pool. Each year the event grows! SVP Fast Pitch 2015 stands on the shoulders of those that created SVP Fast Pitch and evolved it over its short and very impactful life. We too are now part of that proud legacy. Most importantly, we’ve given the innovators coaching and workshops, and the opportunity for funding to continue their good works. You each get to take a little pride in the continued success of each innovator we’ve touched.
Take it all in tonight and enjoy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you’ve done!”
Like traditional Greek dancing, the Final Showdown is a powerhouse of a social function–but so much more. SVP Fast Pitch Seattle brings the community together to celebrate and reward the myriad of innovation born in the Greater Puget Sound.
Tonight, $125K grants will be awarded to Not For Profit Innovators and a $205 Investment will be made in For Profit Innovators – plus more than $100K in-kind prizes (thanks to our Sponsors) will be given to innovators.
But wait, there is more to this “Dinner and Show” that starts at 4:30 today.
Wine, food, community connections to be made await you.
An opportunity to be an Angel and give an Innovator at the expo featuring over 20 Semi-finalists and Finalists a $500 or $1000 award after the Final Pitches happen and dessert is served.
With over 900 people in attendance, you are bound to make a connection you will be glad to know.
All it takes is being there.
If you don’t already have your ticket for tonight and can join us from 4:30-9:30 pm tonight, please show up and get your ticket at the door. We’d love to have you.
