Mark served as SVP Portland’s CEO from March 2007 to November 2018. During his tenure, Mark took our Partnership to new heights in service to the Portland community, new depths of impact for underserved children and families, and greater breadth in our business model. Mark continues his work with SVP as a Partner, sharing our strategic vision, serving as Vice Chair for the Multnomah County Preschool for All task force, and supporting outreach to Partners.
Prior to serving in this role, Mark recruited more than 60 international corporations to join the fight against global pandemics at the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) in New York City. He has a professional background in public relations but has also served as a hospital and prison chaplain, taught classes in the US and Chile, and managed political campaigns in Louisiana, his state of origin. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University New Orleans and graduate degrees in business and theology from the University of Notre Dame.
He serves on the Steering Committee of the Early Childhood Funders Learning Circle, the state advisory council of the Oregon Community Foundation’s Latino Partnership and the Board of Directors for PERIOD-The Menstrual Movement.
As a young child, Mark was very good at entertaining himself with all sorts of art and games. He most enjoyed acting like his favorite monkey, Curious George.
