Preschool for All: Investing in Equity
October 13 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
A growing coalition of key community, philanthropy, and local government leaders have committed to ensuring that every child in our community has access to high-quality preschool experiences. On October 13th, SVP will be co-hosting “Preschool for All: Investing in Equity” with United Way/Early Learning Multnomah and PSU. The day will feature:
- A keynote address by our new Oregon Early Learning Director, Miriam Calderon
- A panel of representatives from Seattle, San Francisco, and Denver to share how their cities made accessible preschool a reality
- An afternoon work session with local colleagues to plot our next steps on this journey, including defining success, and the program array and quality we want to make available.
Support young children’s rights to participate fully in their communities. Learn how to address the serious gaps in access to early childhood education (preschool). Gaps are often generated by systemic inequities that leave a deficit image of the child. The first step—acknowledging children as capable of making meaningful contributions to our city—is to invite communities across Multnomah County and the larger Portland metro area to address opportunities to serve all children. This event is FREE and open to the public.
The deadline to register is October 11, so register now!
