The Inner Working of Nonprofit Organizations

January 24 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

While there are many similarities between profit and nonprofit organizations, significant differences exist, as well. To have an impact, volunteers bringing their professional expertise to nonprofits need to understand these financial, cultural, and organizational differences. This workshop provides an insider’s look at the decisions facing nonprofit boards of directors and executive leadership. Interactive scenarios guide you through hiring and budgeting processes. After completing the workshop, you will be able to compare and contrast nonprofit and for-profit organizations; identify the success factors of effective nonprofits; and describe the funding methods available to nonprofits.

Logistics

We will start right on time so come a little early to fill up on coffee and light snacks. Public Transit is recommended – the red/blue max lines run nearest on NW 1st Ave. The nearest parking structure is a Smart Park on the corner of NW 1st Ave (33 NW Davis St). Street Parking is also available, but it is metered.

This event is open to SVP Encore Fellows, SVP Partners, and SVP Community Partners only.
