Dinner Discussion: Universal Preschool Access in Portland?
August 24, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
What would it look like if metro Portland was a community that showed how much it cares about its youngest citizens? How would we make the invisible visible? Children are the next generation of leaders. Talent is universal, but opportunities are not. Early learning experiences shape lifelong trajectory, so we need to invest more into children who are called “at risk”, but who are full of promise.
One way is providing access to high-quality preschool for all of our children. This means kids living at or near poverty, kids of color, and English language learners need access to affordable, culturally relevant and high-quality preschool. Providing access to high-quality pre-k learning creates the next generation of leaders in our community.
Join us on August 24 for a dinner discussion about what’s possible and what it would take to provide universal access to high-quality preschool/pre-k learning. Learn more about our exciting partnership with Early Learning Multnomah and other community organizations to move this vision to reality. Our guided discussion will include our very own CEO, Mark Holloway; Early Childhood Education expert and Board member, Kimberly Melton; and Commissioner Jessica Vega Pederson.
