About Us

Social Venture Partners challenge the status quo.

We are accomplished in our professional lives and we engage in the community to make it better for all our citizens—no matter their race, economics or zip code. We are philanthropists, volunteers, parents, community leaders—a global network of local partners connecting passion and purpose. Where others see insurmountable problems, we see potential.

Social Venture Partners is the largest global network of engaged donors in the world. Founded by a group of high-tech entrepreneurs in Seattle in 1997, SVP operates in 40 cities with 4,000 Partners worldwide. Each affiliate focuses on making lasting change in its respective city or region. Collectively, the network’s cash investment to date has been $54 million in 700+ nonprofits.

The SVP Portland chapter was founded in 2001. Since then, we have invested $2.8 million in 26 nonprofits in the Portland metro area. One investment alone returned more than $330 million in refunds to working poor families on our investment of $170,000. Unlike most other affiliates, SVP Portland is focused on solving a singular, focused goal each decade.
