Social Venture Partners (SVP) Minnesota selected Elpis Enterprises as its newest grantee at the May 31, 2018 Pitch Night. Elpis Enterprises will receive hundreds of hours of pro bono business consulting and up to $75,000 in grants over three years from SVP. The pro bono hours will focus on projects to build Elpis Enterprises’ capacity and sustainability as they work to end youth homelessness.
Elpis Enterprises (Elpis is Greek for Hope) is a Saint Paul-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides job training, work experience and job placement for homeless or precariously-housed young people ages 16-23. Through several social enterprises, youth build skills, build experience and build relationships in the community. Young people develop as individuals and potential employees by working in real enterprises gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to overcome homelessness and become contributing members of our community.
Since its founding in 2002, SVP has provided over $7 million in pro bono consulting and $2 million+ in cash grants to over 55 qualifying nonprofits. This combination of time, money, and expertise improves impact and sustainability for the nonprofits, while building strong and lasting relationships between SVP Partner donors and the recipient organizations. As an accelerator working alongside innovative nonprofits that support underserved teens in the seven-county metro area, we believe that strong nonprofits deliver better results. It’s that simple.
