Cookie Cart was selected as a SVP Investee at Pitch Night in November 2017. Over the past six months, Cookie Cart executive director Matt Halley, SVP Lead Partner Dan Kinsella and their teams have been hard at work evaluating Cookie Cart’s capacity and setting goals for growth. Aside from plans and milestones being established, the SVP and Cookie Cart teams are also building trusting relationships. SVP Partners are working shoulder to shoulder with Cookie Cart leadership using skills-based volunteering to lay the groundwork for sustainable growth.
Three growth goal areas have been identified:
- Marketing and sales strategies
- Financial modeling
- Volunteer and staff modeling
Cookie Cart will receive up to $75,000 over three years in financial grants and 4x that value in pro bono consulting from SVP.
Cookie Cart provides teens 15 to 18 years old with lasting and meaningful work, life and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery. The Cookie Cart model focuses on engaging teens in the daily bakery operations and cookie production, as well as completing interactive workshops and community engagement activities. Through those experiences, they build the interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills that prepare them for success as they move into future careers. Cookie Cart recently celebrated 30 years AND opened a second bakery in St Paul. Watch a KARE 11 interview with Matt Halley about their St. Paul opening in May 2018.
