You want to put a dent in the world, but you know you’ll only get so far on that journey alone. That’s what Social Venture Partners Minnesota is for.
It starts with you. We can’t define the change you’re searching for, but we will help you achieve it. We’ll connect you to the people and organizations that share your passion, and together we will amplify your impact.
If you are interested in becoming a Social Venture Partners Minnesota Partner, or if you’d like to meet some of our current Partners, hear about their experiences, and learn more about our impact, please contact us, or simply sign up online!
How It Works – Individual Partners
Partners make an annual, tax-deductible contribution in the form of cash, corporate matching funds, or stock transfers. Their donations are pooled to fund the local nonprofits Social Venture Partners Minnesota supports as well as our programming and operations. These contributions are stretched even further by those who volunteer their time and skills to strengthen our Investees, Social Venture Partners Minnesota, and the social sector at large.
Partner roles are very flexible. Some Partners simply use us as a way to make a highly leveraged gift, others take advantage of our social events and peer learning opportunities, and some roll up their sleeves and dig into volunteer projects. Learn specifically what partners do and how you can get involved >>
Individual Partners give at minimum $6,000 per year per household. Join as a Partner Unit, meaning you and your spouse/partner join as a couple at the minimum gift. Both of you become partners after making your annual contribution together.
Rising Leaders are under 35 years of age and make an annual, tax-deductible contribution of at least $1,000 per household. The Rising Leader program offers a “curriculum” of leadership development opportunities to assist in developing social entrepreneurs and community leaders.
How It Works – Business Partners
Social Venture Partners offers a number of ways for corporations to offer engaged philanthropy to their employees. Below are a few examples:
- Corporate Partners hand select up to 4 employees to volunteer their mind power and talent to our investees based on skills-based needs. These employees also have the opportunity to attend SVP events and gatherings with Partner status. $15,000 annually.
- Philanthropic Partners identify and work with an investee to help them scale and help more at-risk teens. With the support of mentoring and coaching from SVP, your employees will work through due diligence to select a nonprofit to support with a grant, mind power, and time. $35,000 annually with $25,000 re-granted to the investee.
- SVP Minnesota is exploring a program called Encore Fellows for future offerings to retiring executives. If your company is interested in this idea, please contact Ann Herzog-Olson.
- And lastly, because we embrace innovation, we are considering rolling out Boards with Brains to train Twin Citians how to be effective leaders on a nonprofit boards.
