Prior to his move to Melbourne, Oliver Lovell resided in Hobart. In tandem with studying Economics and Physics at the University of Tasmania, Ollie worked with a number of non-profit organisations (AYCC, Oaktree, OzGREEN, ASEN), providing opportunities for young Tasmanians to learn about and take action on pressing issues of environmental and social justice. Following a short internship with the Environmental and Engineering Consulting firm Pitt & Sherry, Ollie’s passion for education brought him to Melbourne to undertake a Masters of Teaching at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. Ollie’s Masters project included the design and implementation of an intervention program targeted at improving under-achieving Year 8 students’ mathematics, motivation and engagement.
In the recent past, Ollie has served on the council of The Mathematical Association of Victoria and is presently on the board of the Australian College of Educators, Victorian branch. He is currently the Head of Senior mathematics and physics at Sunshine College in Melbourne’s West and shares his interest in, and focus upon, evidence informed educational practices through his Education Research Reading Room podcast.
