Letter from SVPLA’s New Executive Director Christine Margiotta

Posted by ayaburgess

Dear SVP Community,

Christine was recognized at the LA County Board of Supervisors last week, where she received a commendation from Supervisor Sheila Kuehl for her work in ending homelessness. I’m thrilled to greet you in my first month as Executive Director of Social Venture Partners Los Angeles. I was drawn to SVP because I believe in the collective power of individuals to create unthinkable social change, and I am eager to work with each of you to continue to build this beautiful community of change agents.

In a time of such uncertainty and change in our country, the most important action we can take is to stand shoulder to shoulder across our communities. I see that connection, solidarity, and partnership at the heart of the SVP model, and I couldn’t be more proud to lead this organization in this moment.

I’ve spent the last decade of my career focused on breaking the cycle of poverty in Los Angeles, with a focus on ending homelessness for all Angelenos. Working collaborative, we reduced veteran homelessness by 59% over 5 years. Through that experience, I learned that anything is possible when we dedicate our hearts, creativity, and resources to creating a more just and vibrant community. You can read more about my background HERE.

I’m looking forward to an engaging and impactful 2017 with this incredible SVP community. Please reach out any time I can be a partner to you (cmargiotta@svpla.org), and I wish you much happiness and rest this holiday season!

– Christine
