Who We Are

SVP India is a diverse community of 200+ corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, active citizens and philanthropists committed to solving complex social issues through personal philanthropy, advocacy and capacity building.
SVP Philanthropy Foundation is incorporated under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956, as a company registered for charitable or not-for-profit purposes. It is similar to a Trust or Society and all donations to SVP are entitled to 50% tax deduction under Sec 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
SVP India has invested over Rs 30 million in over 20 grantees, contributing 17,000+ hours of volunteer time and impacting over 15,000 people.
SVP was founded in Bangalore in May, 2012 by Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman, Bank of Baroda and former Chairman of Microsoft India. SVP is currently present in 5 cities across India, in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad. Dr Ganesh Natarajan, Chairman, 5F World chairs the SVP India board. SVP Bangalore chapter is chaired by Dr Jogin Desai, CEO, EyeStem; SVP Pune chapter is chaired by Ganesh Natarajan; SVP Mumbai chapter is chaired by Govind V Iyer, Managing Director, Egon Zehnder; SVP Delhi chapter is chaired by Rajeev Bakshi, Managing Director of Metro Cash and Carry India and SVP Hyderabad chapter is chaired by Ajit Rangnekar, Director General, Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad.
SVP India’s national focus is to make a dent in poverty through catalyzing livelihoods at the bottom of the pyramid. It focuses on organizations that work to promote livelihoods – be it through income augmentation, vocational skills training and placement, or micro-enterprise development. The key areas of investment are Micro Enterprises, Skill Training, Health Livelihoods, Agri Livelihoods and Waste Management.
SVP recently launched its ambitious National Initiative – the SVP Million Jobs Mission – to create 1 million jobs in the next 5 years, through partnerships with a global consortium of best-in-class design, funding and implementation partners which will train & empower 1 million people for sustainable livelihoods in the country.
