The Economics of Investing in Social Impact || Andrea Levere at Feb SILS’17

Businesses directly change the lives of their employees and customers. But every business also has a role to play in its community.

On February 22nd, the Social Innovation Luncheon Series will host Andrea Levere, President of Corporation for Enterprise Development, who will discuss how businesses can intentionally contribute to reducing poverty and expanding economic opportunity. Ms. Levere will further explore how better economic opportunities for low-income or disadvantaged communities are better for all of us.

About Andrea Levere:

Andrea Levere has led the Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) as its president since 2004. CFED is a private nonprofit organization with the mission of building assets and expanding economic opportunity for low-income people and disadvantaged communities through financial inclusion, matched savings, entrepreneurship, and affordable housing.

In 2016, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System appointed Ms. Levere to its Community Advisory Council. The Council provides advice and recommendations to the Board on a wide range of issues including those that affect low-income and communities of color. She also serves as the Chair of ROC USA (Resident Owned Communities USA), a national social venture that converts manufactured home parks into resident owned cooperatives.

She is a member of the FDIC’s Committee on Economic Inclusion, Morgan Stanley’s Community Development Advisory Board, and Capital One’s Community Advisory Council. In 2013 President Obama appointed Ms. Levere to the National Cooperative Bank’s (NCB) Board of Directors to represent the interests of low-income consumers. Ms. Levere served as chair of the board of the Ms. Foundation for Women from 2002-2005, after being on its board since 1998. Ms. Levere holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and an MBA from Yale University.
