Hilary Sparks-Roberts joined SVP as Director of Partner Engagement in 2011, became Deputy Director in 2013, and shifted to Executive Director in August 2014. A native Clevelander, Hilary loves the ways in which SVP strengthens the Greater Cleveland community one nonprofit at a time. “I delight in working elbow-to-elbow with our Partners — the backbone of our organization — as they apply their immense wisdom and collective energies to make the nonprofits we invest in stronger. As a result, Greater Cleveland benefits!” She looks forward to sharing SVP’s model of engaged philanthropy with fellow Clevelanders who want to do more than write a check or applaud others’ efforts from a distance. “Whether you’re 24 or 84, here’s a unique chance to serve as an engine for good.”
A graduate of Kenyon College and CWRU Law School, Hilary applied her love of language and social activism to a variety of endeavors first serving as briefer to Governor Richard Celeste and later as a mediator in the Cleveland Prosecutor’s Office, a Judicial Law Clerk to former Juvenile Court Judge Peter Sikora, and a freelance writer and editor for arts and educational organizations. Prior to joining SVP Cleveland in 2011, Hilary taught AP and Honors English for 10 years at Lake Ridge Academy where she helped found and advise an extensive Mock Trial program whose teams repeatedly made it to States and even achieved national prominence one year. Hilary and her husband, Kevin, have two adult children and live in Olmsted Falls where her husband has his law practice.
