ELA’s mission is to help young people develop their most valuable asset – themselves
ELA has worked with young people across Northeast Ohio for the past nine years, providing them with invaluable leadership and self-development opportunities, in direct partnership with local schools and youth-serving agencies. We work diligently to equip youth along the 5th grade-college continuum with the “real world” skills they need to be successful in school and work- and citizenship-ready upon graduation.
Our founding principle is that leaders are made, not born. It is our responsibility to help the young people in our communities to learn how to turn their potential into performance. We provide a transformational experience to inspire youth to become their very best selves by teaching them transferable deep learning skills (e.g., communication, teamwork).
According to research conducted by Harvard University, the Carnegie Foundation, and Stanford Research Center, 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft skills and people skills, whereas only 15% comes from technical skills and knowledge. For this exact reason, ELA provides the soft skills training that our partners do not have the skills, resources, or expertise to offer their students, preparing them to be both work- and citizenship-ready upon graduation.
