SVP Chicago’s Alumni Investees Earn Recognition and Funding

Posted by colleenscrivner

SVP Chicago’s first three investees continue to scale and increase their impact.

  • One Million Degrees:  OMD has entered into a new partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority and the City Colleges of Chicago to expand its comprehensive community college student support services to more CHA residents! Nationally-recognized researcher Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab from Temple University will evaluate the program. OMD is receiving a $500,000, three-year grant from the Kresge Foundation to support this work.
  • Project SYNCERE:  Jason Coleman was named a 2019 Eisenhower Fellow and will spend 5 weeks in Australia and Ghana to gain an understanding of how these 2 nations are working to develop a sustainable pipeline of future talent in the STEM fields. Project SYNCERE was also a 2018 Invest For Kids awardee and will receive a grant of more than $200,000!
  • Primo Center for Women and Children:  Primo won a $2.5 million grant from Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ Day One Fund! Bezos’ fund awarded $97.5 million to 24 organizations in 16 states and DC to support their work in helping the homeless.

We are proud of the work they do and the positive impact they have in our community!
