CALLING NONPROFIT BOARD MEMBERS
Are you new to a nonprofit board? Have you been on a board for years but still aren’t sure exactly what you’re supposed to be doing? Do you know that a good board makes an organization better, but don’t know exactly how that happens?
Are you an Executive Director or CEO who doesn’t have the capacity to do education and development for your board?
SVP’s Boards with Brains series is for you!
In our first session Nia Wassink will lead you through a lively, interactive practical training on the practices that have been proven to help boards become more effective.
You can expect:
- Understand basic structures of effective nonprofits
- Recognize key markers of high performing organizations
- How to distinguish Your Responsibility v. Not Your Problem
- Hands-on experience in tackling challenges common to all sorts of nonprofits.
About our Presenter:
Nia Wassink has worked with and for the nonprofit sector her entire career. Her experience crosses organizational size, structure, and roles. This allows her the unique experience of both reporting to and receiving reports on a Board of Directors, being in a development department and managing one, and managing and being a volunteer. She was proud to serve on staff at Voices For Children CASA, Blue Sky Bridge, and the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association. Nia currently volunteers her time as the Board President of the Acorn School, on the Board of Attention Homes, as a member of Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County, a CASA volunteer and as a partner with Social Venture Partners of Boulder County. Nia received her Undergraduate Degree in Sociology from the University of Michigan and her Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from Regis University in Denver.
