After a rigorous vetting process, Social Venture Partners Boston has selected three finalists – Courageous Parents Network, Doc Wayne, and Union Capital Boston – to compete for three years package of financial and skilled volunteer support. They were evaluated for their leadership, sustainability, societal impact, and innovation and survived the cut from an original pool of approximately 20 organizations.
Courageous Parents Network empowers and supports parents and health care providers caring for children with life-threatening illnesses in Massachusetts and beyond. Doc Wayne fuses sport and therapy to heal and strength at-risk youth in the Greater Boston and Metrowest areas. Union Capital Boston provides social and financial rewards to low-income families in Metro Boston in exchange for involvement in schools, health centers, and civic programs.
One nonprofit will be selected late May for three years of support that includes $75,000 in unrestricted funds and access to a pool of highly skilled business professionals that provide hands-on support and counsel in key areas: strategy, business and financial planning, talent development, marketing and communications, board development, and impact measurement. These valuable resources help Social Venture Partner’s Grantees deepen their impact and grow quickly to reach more children, youth, and families.
“These nonprofit finalists are making a real, important difference and have the potential to do much more in Boston and beyond,” says Marjorie Ringrose, Social Venture Partners Boston director of social impact. “We look forward to putting our minds and money in their service, helping them deepen their impact and grow.”
